Rendering of Beef Tallow for Biodiesel Production: Microwave versus Boiling Water and Acetone Fat Extraction

Biodiesel can substitute for conventional diesel fuel and contribute to the decarbonization of transportation sector. To improve biodiesel sustainability decrease production costs, low-grade fats such as non-edible animal must be used. Animal are mixed with tissues which removed before alcoholysis avoid contamination nitrogen phosphorus-containing compounds. was produced by methanolysis beef tallow tallow/soybean oil mixtures over calcium heterogeneous catalysts obtained calcination scallop shells. The from fatty bovine extracted using boiling water, dry microwave treatment, acetone extraction. thermal stability moisture content were evaluated thermogravimetry. thermograms revealed that faster (3 min instead 40 water 240 extraction) had lowest energy consumption, led a fat analogous acetone. All behaved similarly in reaction catalyst, yield (61–62%) being 30% lower than soybean (88%). Co-processing overcomes drawback related fats.
